We all seem to be wired to live in our comfort zone. It’s just human nature. This is a place where we feel safe, protected and in control. It’s a place that minimizes stress or uncomfortable challenges. But it’s also a place where you can become complacent or bored; where your growth is stifled.
What lies beyond this sacred space we have created for ourselves? There is an entire world, most often not tapped into. There lies exciting new challenges and opportunities for growth. Outside your comfort zone is where all the magic and joy of life begins.
Stepping outside of your comfort zone may be difficult at first, bringing a bit of anxiety or fear. It’s okay because you’re exchanging the human habits and patterns of your everyday life, for change. You are expanding your physical and emotional state of being and perhaps entering an unfamiliar territory. But it’s said that if you want something you’ve never had, you must do things you have never done.
Meet each new challenge with a different mindset, bringing awareness to where your comfort levels are. See and reach beyond those horizons. Get creative and change the way you think. Acknowledge any anxiety or fears you may encounter and ask yourself… “How difficult can it be?” or “What’s the worst that can happen?”
Taking risks can get your creative juices flowing while building character. You may even become more productive with existing tasks. Don’t assume the outcome or let the fear of failure hold you back. Don’t worry about what others may think or say. That alone can be your biggest obstacle.
Power up your inner forces and take risks. Remember that nothing is permanent and nothing is forever. Most often you can reverse your choices or decision, and chalk it up as experience. “I tried it… I liked it…or not.” Life doesn’t offer you guarantee’s, but if you don’t try something new, you’ll never know what you may be missing.
Establish new habits and new life patterns that feel good and bring excitement into your life. It’s time to get out of your own way. What’s holding you back?
“As you step out of your comfort zone, the joy of life will bring you new comfort”
